Sept 29 – With last one day to go for the official monsoon season to end, monsoon has created several records in Goa this season. Speaking to Digital Goa, Ex NIO scientist and expert on monsoon Dr Ramesh Kumar said that Goa received whopping 4400 mm (173 inches) till today morning which is almost 50 percent surplus compared to normal rainfall received by Goa. Average 236 mm rain received by Goa and 363 mm rain received in the capital city of Panaji on July 8 was the highest ever recorded in the state in 125 years, he said. July was the wettest month in several decades which saw as many as 9 red alerts issued by IMD. Valpoi and Sanguem stations received over 5,000 mm rain while 9 stations in the state crossed 4000 mm rain, he added.
