MPA to be asked to handover Mormugao fort to Goa govt for restoration

Digital Goa, July 24 – Goa govt will ask Mormugao Port Authority(MPA) to hand over the historic Mormugao fort at Headland Sada to the State Archaeology Department for restoration. Instructions have been issued to the Archaeology Department to initiate communication with MPA in this regards. Minister Subhash Phal Dessai visited the site along with department officials and local MLA. The issue of access to the heritage structure of Vice-regal palace located under MPT property was also discussed with MPA officials. The oldest standing non-religious building in Mormugao, Viceregal Palace alias Old Palace Hotel was constructed sometime between 1702 and 1705.
