Digital Goa, Oct 9 – The Goa government has notified the amended Goa Municipalities Act after it received Governor Assent . One major change is the increase in the number of elected councillors for ‘A’ Class Municipal Councils from 25 to 27 members. Under revised Section 188, the period for a chief officer to grant or refuse permission for occupancy has been reduced from one month to 15 days. The inspection period following a notice of completion has been shortened from seven to five days, and the time limit for building owners to rectify deficiencies has been cut from one month to 15 days.
