Digital Goa, Apr 7 – The new academic year for students of Std VI to IX and Std XII commenced today across Goa, marking the first time that schools have reopened in April. Education Director Shailesh Zingade stated that the response from parents was positive and claimed 100% attendance on day one.
However, a number of parents staged a protest outside the Directorate of Education in Porvorim, opposing the government’s decision to start classes in April. Zingade dismissed the protest as illegal, maintaining that the decision was made in the best interest of students.
