New road works worth Rs 10,000 crore to start in Goa in next 6 months: Gadkari

Digital Goa, Dec 22- New road work projects worth Rs 10,000 crore, where 90 % land acquisition has been completed will be taken in annual plan and started in Goa in next 6 months time, announced Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. He was speaking during the inauguration of the LHS of new Zuari bridge. The 8 lane Zuari Bridge project has been built using Rs 2530 crore. He also laid the foundation stone for the Rs 280 crore viewing gallery project atop the bridge and the elevated corridor at Porvorim.
▪️ Rs 100 crore sanctioned for handling accident prone black spots on roads
Gadkari announced sanctioned Rs 100 crore for handling accident prone black spots on roads across Goa. State govt had submitted a proposal of Rs 177 crore for the work. He also sanction Rs 40 crore for western bypass in lieu of the Rs 450 crore spent by the state to improve the road infrastructure during G20 summit. Gadkari also assured the state to approve Rs 100 croe for the state under Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) and Setu Bandhan scheme. State has submitted proposals worth Rs 300 crore under CRIF.
The union Minister also asked CM and Forest Minister to pay special attention to clearing of forest and environment related issues related to 69 Km Goa to Karnataka border road proposed to be built by spending Rs 5,200 crore and assured of speaking to union environment minister in this regards. 212 km NH conversion from 2 lane to 4 lane worth 16,000 crore is underway and 96 km work has been completed, he informed.
▪️ Viewer gallery atop Zuari bridge to bring international fame to Goa
The viewer gallery and art gallery atop the Zuari bridge will be built in PPP mode by spending Rs 280 crore. Visitors will arrive by boat and go up the gallery by using a capsule lift. The project will bring international fame to Goa, said Gadkari. He also proposed light and sound show by using the bridge as backdrop showing history of Goa.
