Govt simplifies new power connections up to 5 kW, cuts paperwork

Digital Goa, July 1 – The Goa Electricity Department has simplified the procedure for new low-tension (LT) single-phase electricity connections up to 5 kW with immediate effect under its EoDB initiative. Applicants will now need to submit only two documents-proof of identity and proof of ownership or occupancy of the premises. The mandatory Wiring Completion and Test Report from a licensed electrical contractor and the joint inspection by the concerned Junior Engineer have been waived. However, before the connection is energised, the department will conduct a field-level safety verification using a prescribed checklist. If the installation fails to meet the safety requirements, the electricity connection will be released only after all deficiencies are rectified.
