Aug 28- National Investigating Agency (NIA) has arrested 2 persons in Karwar and one person in Goa on suspicion of espionage at INS Kadamba Naval base shipyard i.e. Project Seabird at Karwar. All three are contract workers employed at Karwar Naval base shipyard for various types of jobs. Sunil Naik and Vetan Tandel were arrested from Karwar. Akshay Naik had left the job at Project Seabird and was working in Goa and was arrested from here. The trio have been arrested on suspicion that they sent photos of the sensitive defence establishment to an agent at Hyderabad who allegedly passed them onto foreign agents. The trio were named by an accused held in the matter in 2023.
