NITI Aayog meeting: Goa Govt working on inter linking of river storage dams says CM

Digital Goa, May 27 – CM Pramod Sawant highlighted several proposed initiatives of the state during his address at the eighth governing council meeting of NITI Aayog in the national capital.
▪️ Govt working on inter linking of river storage dams
Goa govt is working on the projects of inter linking of river storage dams in the State. In the first instance 6 major dams at Nirankal, Cajumol, Tatodi and Mhadei river will be brought under the project, to store about 20.91 TMC of water raw water. State has completed rejuvenation of 164 water bodies under the “Amrit Sarovar Mission”

▪️ ITI’s to be turned into Centre of Excellence through PPP
In order to upgrade all the ITIs in the State to “Centre of Excellence” and to promote skill education, Goa is signing MOU with TATA Technology Ltd. Initially, 5 ITIs will be upgraded under this project at project cost of Rs. 209 crores in sharing ratio of 86%:14% between TATA Technology Ltd and Government of Goa. Under this project new age technology courses will be offered to the youth of Goa.

▪️ PWD, Electricity projects and mining activities to be mapped onto Gati Shakti portal
New projects commissioned after June 2022 by the Electricity Department will be mapped onto the PM Gati Shakti portal by 31st May 2023. PWD projects are also being mapped onto the portal. Presently, 88 iron ore mining leases have been plotted on the Gatishakti Portal and it is proposed to plot the co-ordinates of minor mineral leases namely Laterite, Basalt, Dolomite & Bentonite. It is also proposed that all the mineral transportation routes, jetties used for transportation of minerals and all the plants used for captive consumption of minerals shall be mapped on the PM GatiShakti platform.

▪️ Rs 670 crore Infra projects sanctioned through SIDBI & Rs 550 crore through NABARD
Projects worth more than Rs. 670 crores sanctioned for creating infrastructure for Industrial Investment in the State of Goa through SIDBI in FY 2022-23. Further, more than Rs. 550 crores have been sanctioned under NABARD for Rural Infrastructure Development in the State.

▪️ Corpus of Rs 10 Crores with CGTMSE for MSME loans
Goa govt is in final stages of signing an MoU with Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises(CGTMSE) after which an initial corpus of Rs 10 Crores will be placed with CGTMSE for MSME loans.

▪️ All incremental power purchase agreements from green sources
Government of Goa has come up with a Green Goa Policy. It is proposed that all incremental power purchase agreements (PPAs) will only be from green sources such as Solar, Wind, Tidal etc. Govt has signed a PPA with Solar Energy Corporation of India Limite (SECI) to procure Wind power at 50 MW on Long Term basis and Wind-Solar Hybrid Power to the tune of 150 MW from a combined sources of Renewable Power comprising of Solar, Wind and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Feasibility study for setting up of Wind Park / Wind Solar Hybrid parks in the State of Goa will be carried out. MoU has been signed with SJVN for setting up of Membrane based Ocean floating Solar projects and Hydro power project.
