No more free rides for two-wheelers in ferry boats across Goa

Digital Goa, Nov 1 – River Navigation Department will start charging two-wheeler riders for using ferry boat services across Goa after 15 days, informed Minister Subhash Phal Dessai. The ticket charge will be uniform across Goa – Rs 5 for two-wheelers and Rs 40 for four-wheelers. However the dept will provide option of a monthly pass costing Rs 150 for two-wheelers and Rs 600 for four-wheelers. The passes and tickets will be available through an app with a payment gateway. Phal Dessai said he is attempting to generate revenue to upgrade the ferry service.
Faster RORO ferries capable of taking 3 times the load of conventional ferries will be operational in Goa in next 6 months, he added.
