No need to panic over covid cases: Rane

Digital Goa, Dec 20 – There is no need to panic over the rising covid cases and detection of Omicron sub variant BA.2 (JN.1) in the State, asserted Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane. All the covid patients in Goa are under home isolation and have mild symptoms and they are being treated, he informed. In all nineteen cases of Omicron Sub Variant BA.2 (JN.1) have been detected in Goa by the genomic sequencing lab at the North Goa district hospital, including a BA.2.86 sequence. All these patients have already completed their isolation period and are not among the active 19 cases as per state epidemiologist. He was speaking to media persons after attending a virtual meeting with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandviya.
▪️ Center asks States to remain alert
During the meeting the Union Minister urged all the states to remain alert, increase surveillance and ensure adequate stock of medicines, oxygen cylinders and concentrators, ventilators and vaccines. He has also asked officials to undertake mock drills every three months at both the Central and State levels to assess functionality of PSA plants, Oxygen concentrators and cylinders, ventilators, etc., and encouraged the sharing of best practices.
