Non-profit animal welfare bodies to receive financial aid to the tune of Rs 64.36 lakh from govt

Digital Goa, Jan 19 – Goa govt has revised the DSPCA Animal Welfare & Rescue Scheme. Under the revised scheme financial assistance to the tune of Rs 64.36 lakh to the Societies for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) aimed at preventing cruelty towards and protecting animals from being subjected to unnecessary pain or suffering. SPCA is a common name for non-profit organisations. Under this scheme, titled district SPCA animal welfare and rescue scheme, district are required to encourage the establishment of animal shelters, sanctuaries, water trough, etc for providing shelter and amenities to animals rescued from cruelty, incapacitated for work on account of old age, sickness or injury.
