Digital Goa, August 25 – Goa government has issued a notification exempting traditional Matoli vendors from paying Sopo (market) fees at Ganesh Chaturthi bazaars, CM Pramod Sawant has confirmed. He explained that while the official directive was slightly delayed, it has now been released. Sawant had announced in the recently concluded State Legislative Assembly that Panchayats and Municipalities would be instructed not to charge Sopo fees from these vendors. But owing to the absence of written communication, Sopo collections had continued in most areas.
