Odisha native attacked by mob at Mopa for helping police to book taxi driver for touting at Mopa Airport

    Digital Goa, Jan 30 – A group of 50 to 60 persons assaulted and injured Odisha native security personnel and 2 of his colleagues after he assisted a police staff in booking touting case against a taxi driver. Mopa Airport Police have registered a case against several locals for unlawful assembly and assault. The mob attacked the victim identified as Gobinda Gochhayat while he was on way to his rented room at Nhaibag, Pernem. He and his colleagues Santosh Salunke and Vijendra Singh were assaulted with beer bottles, fist blows and wooden sticks causing them bodily injuries, informed police. The assault happened near Varkhand cricket ground. Gobinda had assisted the police staff in booking a touting case of one of the taxi driver who was calling customer at Mopa Airport taxi parking area today morning. According to police, this was the trigger for the mob attack. FIR has been registered under sections 143, 147, 148, 341, 323, 324, 506 r/w 149 IPC.
