Digital Goa, Oct 27 – High Court today ruled that those who have joined in govt service prior to 2005 on contract basis and have been later regularized will be eligible for pension and other retiral benefits under Old Pension Scheme(OPS) and not the presently applicable new pension scheme under National Pension System(NPS). The NPS is a defined-contribution pension system which waas formed in 2004. The court order came in the case of an employee of Sanquelim Munipal Council who retired from her service as a sweeper in Dec 2020. Court ordered that the pension under the OPS should be paid to the petitioner under the OPS effective from her date of retirement. The Court also ordered the authorities to pay the arrears of the pension to her within two months and file a compliance report by Jan 5,2024.
