Sept 13 – If electricity bill payment is made through online system, a rebate of 0.5% and 0.25% shall be given to Low Tension consumers and High Tension consumers respectively. JERC has notified the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for the State of Goa and Union Territories (Electricity Supply Code) (Third Amendment) Regulations, 2024 to this effect.
▪️ If Electricity Dept fails to supply electricity within the period specified in the Supply Code Regulations, it shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding five hundred rupees for each day of default.
▪️ As per the notification, timeline for releasing new electricity connection for metro cities is 3 day, urban areas – 7 days, rural areas- 15 days and rural islands- 30 days form receipt of the complete application.
▪️ JERC has set April 1,2025 as deadline for implementing the Time of Day(TOD) tariff. “Time of Day tariff shall be made effective immediately after installation of smart meters, for the consumers with smart meters,” the notification adds.
▪️ In case of delay in serving a bill by more than 60 days, the consumers shall be given a rebate of two percent.
JERC had issued draft notification in this regards in May this year and had sought objections and suggestions. The new notification will be effective from Sept 11.
