Only 1,200 apply for 10,000 apprenticeship openings in the State

Digital Goa, July 1 – With only 1200 job seekers registering to avail the apprenticeship opportunities thrown open by the Goa govt in government and private sector, CM Pramod Sawant has asked the local body representatives like Panchayat members and councilors to pull up their sleeves and spruce up the registration numbers. He asked each of them to work towards getting at least 50 registrations done. He was speaking at the virtual interaction with panchayats and municipalities about the initiative. 2,700 apprentice opportunities in the 416 govt offices will be allotted within next 4 days, CM informed, further adding that 4885 apprenticeship openings are available in the private sector. Sawant had earlier announced that under the skilling, up skilling, reskilling initiative, Goa govt will give offer letters to 10,000 apprentice on July 15 i.e. World Youth Skills Day. In Phase II of the initiative, govt will come up with schemes for women, specially self employed women engaged in cottage industries, said Sawant.
