Only 50% of Rs 800 crore worth tendered works for monsoon preparedness completed

    Digital Goa, June 23 – Briefing the media about the monsoon preparedness of the power department, Power Minister Sudin Dhavlikar said State Electricity Dept has tendered works worth Rs 800 crore of which 50 % works have been completed and 50 % are pending. Mandrem Substation will be completed this month, 50 megavolt amperes (MVA) Verna Transformer will be charged by July 1. The minister attributed the power woes in several areas of Goa including Mandrem, Calangute etc to Karnataka elections. Due to Karnataka elections maintenance of infrastructure bringing power to Goa was delayed by Karnataka, he said. “Maintenance work has been started by Karnataka yesterday,” he informed. The department will employ 200 more lineman by August, informed the Minister. The department completed Rs 70 crore G20 related works within a short span of one and half month, he added.
