Digital Goa, July 27 – Opposition today grilled Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane over forest fires that rocked the state recently. Congress MLA Carlos Ferreira charged that forest fires were the handiwork of real estate lobby. MLA Vijay Sardesai sought a specific assurance from Forest Minister that the forest affected by fires will not be converted at any cost. Minister Rane said that out of 480 hectors that was affected by forest fires, 365 hectors was moist deciduous forest which can’t be converted. He denied that there was any involvement of builder lobby in forest fires in Goa.
