Opposition MLAs stage walk out over shortened session during Governor’s address

Feb 6 – Several opposition MLAs staged a walk out while governor P S Sridharan Pillai was delivering his address as a mark of protest against the govt for curtailing the Assembly session to just 2 days. The MLAs including LoP Yuri Alemao, Viresh Borkar, Venzy Viegas, Cruz Silva staged a walk out. Yuri also tried to speak and raise the issue of curtailing of session before the governor. “Kerala Assembly meets for an average of 50 days a year, while Goa’s average is only 26 days. This is bulldozing of democracy,” he asserted. He was stopped by the Speaker, following this opposition staged a walkout. Goa Forward MLA Vijai Sardesai continued to attend the session holding placard in his hand highlighting job scam, land grabbing, and other scams in Goa.
▪️ BAC report not accepted by opposition over non inclusion of objection to curtailed session
Opposition also objected to the first Report (2025) of the Business Advisory Committee(BAC) placed before the house by CM Pramod Sawant stating that it did not incorporate the written objection raised by them over curtailing of the session. Opposition members said they will not accept the report, however it was passed by voice vote and accepted by the house.
