Digital Goa, Jan 11 – Pernem Police have arrested an absconding accused involved in an attempted murder and robbery case registered in July 2025. The absconding accused, Devgan alias Vijay Pawar (23) from Sangli district, Maharashtra, was arrested on January 8, 2026, and has been brought to Goa. He has been remanded to five days of police custody. The case pertains to a brutal attack on a taxi driver on NH-66 at Malpe, Pernem in July last year, where the victim was assaulted with a sharp weapon and an attempt was made to rob his vehicle. Investigations after the incident had revealed the involvement of the notorious Pardi gang. A minor and 3 more persons from Maharashtra have already been arrested.
