Digital Goa, July 31 – The Goa government has constituted a dedicated Project Management Unit (PMU) at Van Bhawan, Altinho, to facilitate compensatory afforestation (CA) and support the creation of land banks for diversion of forest land for non-forestry purposes under the Van (Sanrakshan Evam Samvardhan) Adhiniyam, 1980. The PMU will assist user agencies in identifying degraded forest land for compensatory afforestation, help identify land parcels for creating land banks, and guide the preparation and submission of proposals under the Van (Sanrakshan Evam Samvardhan) Rules, 2023. The unit will function under the VSESA wing of the Forest Department and comprise senior forest officials headed by the Nodal Officer, VSESA.
