Police file 1,371 pages chargesheet filed in Rama assault case; reiterate attack stemmed from personal grudge and online mockery

Digital Goa, November 17 – Goa Police have filed a 1,371-page chargesheet in assault on social activist Rama Kankonkar case, in the North Goa District & Sessions Court, naming eight accused. All the accused are currently in judicial custody—under various BNS sections and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The chargesheet, filed by IO DySP Sudesh Naik, includes 49 witnesses and 32 muddemal articles. “During the investigation, accused Francis Nadar revealed that he and his associates assaulted Rama Kankonkar with cable wires and smeared cow dung on his face, as part of a conspiracy hatched due to personal grudge and online mockery. The plan was coordinated by Zenito Cardozo, who tracked Rama’s movement and communicated via WhatsApp,” informed police. Police have also sought permission to continue further investigation. Rama was brutally assaulted at Caranzalem in broad daylight on Sept 18.
