June 27 – Goa State Pollution Control Board has mandated that Residential Complex with 24 or above units as well small businesses such as carpentry units to flour mills should have Goa State Pollution Control Board’s water and air pollution related permissions to operate. GSPCB has warned that failure to obtain such permissions will make the complex or the business liable for issue of closure directions. Consent to Establish and Consent to Operate under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 from the Goa State Pollution Control Board is mandatory for the following categories also – Servicing Stations, Washing Centres, Bakery Units, Laundry, Poultry of 5000 and above birds , Flour and Rice Mills , Hotels/Guest House Resort/Motels ,Banquet Hall/Open Air Halls/Party Venues/Marriage Halls , Dairy of 15 animals and above ,Residential Complex with 24 or more flats, Piggery with 15 nos. adult pigs, Restaurants, Saw Mills, Gaushalas, Carpentry Units , Laterite Quarries, stated the public notice. Complaints regarding Noise pollution shall be addressed to Local Police as per the Noise Action Plan notified by the govt, the notice adds.
