Ponda & Sanquelim Municipal Elections on May 5

Digital Goa, Apr 8 – General Elections to Ponda and Sanquelim Municipal Councils will be held on May 5, 2023 from 8 am to 5  pm. Covid-19 Positive patients will be entitled to cast their vote in last hour of the poll i.e from 4 pm to 5 pm. The voting will be held through ballot paper.

*Ponda Municipal Council* has 16,305 voters –  8,152 males and 8,153 females.

*Sanquelim Municipal Council* has 8,640 voters  – 4239 males and  4401 females.

The number of wards for Ponda Municipal Council are 15 and number of wards for Sanquelim Municipal Council are 12.

The Model code of conduct shall come into effect from this moment in the areas under the jurisdiction of Ponda and Sanquelim Municipal Council, states a release by SEC. Maximum limit of total election expenses by a Candidate in the Municipal elections is Rs 2 lakh. The term of existing council of Ponda and Sanquelim Municipality expires on 20th May 2023

*Important dates*

▪️  Receipt of Nominations from April 10 to April 18 from 10 am to 1 pm(7 days except on 14th April 2023 being Public Holiday and 16th April 2023 being Sunday)

▪️  Scrutiny of nominations – April 19

▪️ Withdrawal of candidature –  from 10 am to 3 pm on April 20

▪️  List of Contesting candidates – After 3 pm on April 20

▪️  Date of Poll –  May 5

▪️  Date of Counting of votes – May 7 from 8 am onwards
