Digital Goa, July 9 – Members of Ponnjekars Against Casinos on Thursday met Chief Secretary and Home Secretary of the State, seeking clarity on the government’s preparations for the relocation of offshore casinos from the River Mandovi ahead of the March 31, 2027 deadline. The delegation reminded the CS that the Goa Government had, in January 2025, granted a final two-year extension to offshore casino licences, allowing them to operate in the Mandovi until March 31, 2027. At the time, CM Pramod Sawant had stated that the extension would be the last and that the vessels would have to relocate to alternative sites or the open sea after the deadline. The delegation alleged that the government remained non-committal on the steps being taken to ensure the relocation, despite the deadline being only a few months away.
