Digital Goa, Jan 7 – TCP Minister Vishwajeet Rane today dismissed as “factually incorrect” the claims made by Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar that 60 lakh square metres of land had been converted in Pernem taluka. Rane said official TCP Department records show that only 21 cases have been finally notified under Section 39A of the TCP Act, covering a total area of 2,36,366 square metres. He claimed that provisional proposals do not amount to land conversion, which follows a defined legal process including scrutiny, objections and final notification. Rane asserted that misleading information had led to an erroneous public statement. Sharing a TCP Department note, he added that no cases under Section 17(2) have been considered in view of a High Court order, and asserted that all development in Goa will continue strictly as per law and due process.
