Digital Goa, May 29- PWD has notified the modified ‘Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Policy for Drinking Water Supply’ which is set to come into force from today. The policy aims to improve planning and execution of water supply systems, ensuring smooth, equitable distribution of potable water with community involvement. Community will be involved for water quality testing using Field Test Kits, states the policy. The policy also outlines the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for real-time monitoring, a Command and Control Centre for system management, and adoption of advanced technologies like SCADA and IoT for real-time monitoring of water quality and supply. Other objectives of the policy include reducing non-revenue water through a zero leakage policy, conducting water audits, ensuring metered connections to every household, and improving service levels of 100 LPCD in rural areas and 150 LPCD in urban areas.
