Digital Goa, Mar 7 – Quarrel and heated argument between mother of the 4-year-old girl and the accused lady Pooja Alhat led to the gruesome murder of the 4-year-old child at Kassailem, Usgao, informed SP South Tikam Singh Verma today. “The deceased child’s mother and the accused lady had heated argument about something. In rage of that they took the child inside the house and killed her,” he said. He however ruled out black magic as the cause of murder. “Our forensic team was at the site. We did not see any sign of black magic,” he said. 53-year-old Babasaheb Alhat was arrested yesterday and his 39-year-old wife Pooja Alhat was arested today. Both have been remanded to 6 days police custody. As per police, Pooja took the girl inside her house by giving her sweets. The husband and wife later murdered the child by immersing her head inside a water filled tub. “Asphyxia as result of simultaneous compression of head, nostrils and mouth using blunt force in a child having few signs of immersion in water,” was the cause of death informed police. The couple buried the child in a room in their own house as they could not move out due to police surveillance in the area after the mother of the child filed kidnapping complaint with the police on March 5, Verma informed. Through CCTV footages in the locality police saw the child entering the house of the accused but did not see her leaving the house and thus zeroed down on the accused couple. Babasaheb is a welder by profession. He is a native of Aurangabad, Maharashtra but born and brought up in Goa. The deceased child’s mother whose husbands house was at Ratnagiri was staying with her parents at Usgao.
