Railways deletes X post after backlash over coal transport link to double tracking; retains FB post

Digital Goa, Sept 3 – The Union Ministry of Railways today deleted a post on X, made on Sunday, after it triggered backlash from Goa’s Opposition parties, who alleged that it vindicated their stand that the railway double-tracking project is aimed at expanding coal handling capacity. The post had stated that the doubling of the railway track from Hospet in Karnataka to Vasco-da-Gama in Goa — with 312 km already commissioned on the Karnataka side — would speed up “coal, iron ore and steel transportation in the region” while also “boosting tourism to Goa and Hampi.” Interestingly, the Facebook post carrying the same content on the Ministry’s official handle has not been deleted.
