Ranveer Singh apologises after IFFI remark sparks backlash

Digital Goa, December 2 — Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has issued a public apology after a social media uproar over his comments made during the closing ceremony of the IFFI 2025 in Goa on Friday. The actor came under criticism after referencing a climactic scene from Rishabh Shetty’s acclaimed film Kantara, which many online users said appeared disrespectful to cultural sentiments. Responding to the controversy, Singh posted an apology on Instagram, clarifying that his remarks were misinterpreted. “My intention was to highlight Rishab’s incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way that he did, for which he has my utmost admiration.I have always deeply respected every culture, tradition and belief in our country. If I’ve hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologise,” he posted.
