Registration mandatory for bulk waste generators: Pollution Control Board

    Digital Goa, June 25 – The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has directed all eligible bulk waste generators (BWGs) to register on the Centralised Solid Waste Management Portal (https://swm.cpcb.gov.in/ ) and comply with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, which came into force on April 1. The rules apply to establishments with a built-up area of 20,000 sq. m. or more, water consumption of at least 40,000 litres per day, or generation of 100 kg or more of solid waste daily, including government offices, educational institutions, hotels, hospitals, industries, malls and residential societies. Eligible entities must register on the portal, file annual returns by June 30, segregate waste into four streams and ensure scientific disposal through authorised agencies. The GSPCB warned that non-compliance could result in action, including suspension of water or electricity supply as per the new rules.
