Nov 15- Claiming that religious conversions are made by groups like Hallelujah by making financially and educationally weaker sections of the society as soft targets, CM Sawant warned that such conversions will not be tolerated. He was speaking at the 150th Birth Anniversary of tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Missionary schools lured the tribal communities with education and resorted to religious conversions in British India and Portuguese ruled Goa, he said. Even 60 years after liberation of Goa, in the name of healing diseases, curing infertility etc such groups continue to misguide people and indulging in religious conversions, he added.
Sawant asserted that his govt has introduced 26 schemes to help bring tribal communities in the main stream. He went on to add that of the 10,000 Forest Right claims of forest dwelling tribal people, 2,500 applications have been cleared during his tenure.
