Digital Goa, 10, July – The Goa government has amended the Retirement Benefit Scheme for Anganwadi Workers (AWW) and Anganwadi Helpers (AWH), raising their retirement age to 62 years from May 1, 2024, subject to medical fitness after 60. Retired AWWs will now receive a lump sum benefit of Rs 5 lakh, while AWHs will get Rs 3 lakh. In cases of voluntary retirement after 25 years of service, the same amounts apply. The scheme also covers cases of death while in service, with the benefits going to the nominee. The Directorate of Women and Child Development will implement the scheme and ensure timely settlement of claims.
