Digital Goa, November, 11 – Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited(IPSCDL) is set to undertake a project to ‘revitalise Panaji’s Central Business District and historic core’ by preserving heritage buildings, improving pedestrianisation, creating blue-green public spaces, and upgrading infrastructure such as roads, sewerage etc. IPSCDL has floated Rs 96.84 lakh(excluding GST) worth tender for the appointment of a consultant to prepare a concept plan for the project. The project, to be taken up under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (2025–26) scheme, aims to transform underutilised areas of the city into ‘vibrant economic and cultural hubs’. The 3.92 km Latin Quarter, a UNESCO-recognized heritage zone, will receive special attention to preserve its Portuguese colonial architecture, narrow streets, colourful houses, and cultural spaces, states the project description. The initiative is expected to also focus on restoring heritage precincts, enhancing public spaces, and modernising city infrastructure. The consultant’s scope will also include detailed reconnaissance, traffic studies, topographic and LiDAR/drone surveys, pavement and sub-grade investigations, structural design, drainage planning, interchanges, 3D modeling, and preparation of engineering reports, cost estimates, construction drawings, and bid documents for execution of civil works. The project will ensure stakeholder consultation, especially with local residents, adds the tender.
