Digital Goa, June 13 – Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) ferry services on the Chorao–Ribandar route are likely to begin within 15 days, informed River Navigation Minister Subhash Phal Dessai. He however refrained from giving any exact date. Trial runs have been completed successfully, he said. Department has invested Rs 76 crore in the Ro-Ro project, but its revenue is pegged at only Rs 52 lakh, he said adding that ways are being explored to boost earnings through the Ro-Ro service. Meanwhile, the panchayats of Diwar island have also shown interest in Ro-Ro ferries and are open to levying of vehicle charges if required, Phal Dessai added.
