Rohit Monserrate says he is keen on contesting from Taleigao subject to party’s decision

Digital Goa, August 3 – Panaji Mayor Rohit Monserrate has said he intends to contest the upcoming Goa Assembly elections but added that the final decision on his constituency will rest with the BJP leadership. Speaking to reporters, Monserrate said his preference is to contest from the Taleigao Assembly constituency as he wishes to carry forward the political legacy of his mother. Monserrate also clarified that he is not very keen on contesting from the St Cruz constituency, while reiterating that he would abide by whatever decision the party takes regarding his candidature. Incidentally, the reopening of the BJP’s St Cruz party office by Minister and Panaji BJP MLA Atanasio “Babush” Monserrate has reportedly caused disgruntlement among some local BJP leaders, fuelling speculation over the party’s electoral plans for the constituency.
