Rs 13 crore Kesarval Spring renovation planned; govt to act against polluting industries

Digital Goa, July 29 – Kesarval Spring at Verna will be renovated at an estimated cost of ₹13 crore, WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar informed the house. Tendering process is likely within two to three months, he assured. During the discussion, several MLAs raised concerns about the deteriorating water quality at the spring, stating that industrial wastewater from the Verna Industrial Estate is seeping into the source and causing skin infections among visitors. Responding to the concerns, CM Sawant informed the House that a common Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), monitored by the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB), has been proposed at Verna. He assured that the government will take action against industries found violating waste treatment norms.
