Digital Goa, Feb 1 – Money to the tune of Rs 18 crore of nearly 509 depositors has been held up by Mashel Mahila Co-operative Credit Society Ltd, alleged depositors of the society during their protest at Azad Maidan in Panaji today. Several of the depositors who are senior citizens said that they have invested their life saving in the bank and are struggling to get the money back now. They urged the govt to intervene in the matter and facilitate withdrawal of their deposited money. Discovering irregularities in the functioning of the Deulwada, Marcel, based society, the state Registrar of Co-operative Societies, had placed the society under restrictions for non-compliance with statutory requirements and failure to safeguard depositor interests.
