Ruckus witnessed in Goa Assembly over coal issue

Digital Goa, January, 13 – The Goa Legislative Assembly witnessed a ruckus on Tuesday as Opposition members rushed to the well of the House protesting coal handling in the state. Opposition legislators walked into the well shouting slogans of “Goyant Kolso Naka” (We don’t want coal in Goa).
Govt has not permitted coal handling beyond 2012 approved limit : CM
Despite the commotion, CM Pramod Sawant continued with his replies to LAQs, asserting that the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has not permitted SWPL or the Adani Mormugao Port Terminal to handle coal or coke beyond the quantity approved in 2012. CM further informed the House that the Pollution Control Board has initiated a health impact study titled “Health Study for Assessing Impact on Communities Residing in the Vicinity of MPT, Vasco City” through the ICMR–National Institute of Occupational Health, Ahmedabad.
