The District and Additional Sessions Court at Merces on Friday granted Rupali Ajit Shankhwalkar interim anticipatory bail until the next hearing in connection with the alleged high-profile cash-for-jobs fraud case involving her husband, Ajit Shankhwalkar. If arrested, she is to be released on a personal bond of ₹5,000 with a surety of the same amount. Shankhwalkar sought protection citing apprehension of arrest following media reports linking her to allegations against her husband. Her application maintained that she had no role in the alleged offence, was not named in the FIR and had cooperated with investigators. The prosecution opposed the plea, arguing that no grounds for interim relief had been established. The court granted protection in the interest of justice.
