Digital Goa, Dec 2 – Sancoale Panchayat has issued show-cause notices to scrapyards operating in the area after two major fire incidents were reported recently. Sarpanch Anusha Lamani and panch member Santosh Desai confirmed the development. The matter was raised during the Gram Sabha, where concerns were expressed over lack of safety measures and illegal scrapyard operations. The scrapyard owners have been asked to submit relevant documents to panchayat, while authorities including the Pollution Control Board will be asked to verify compliance. The panchayat also warned that scrapyards posing safety risks may face closure.
