Digital Goa, Jan 5- Sand extraction licences for Chapora river will be cleared soon as NIO has already submitted report regarding the feasibility and the places where extraction can be carried out in the river as per directions of the High Court, informed CM Pramod Sawant. He added that for other rivers, the NIO report may take 4 more months. Govt will set yearly limit for sand extraction. The extraction will have to be done using traditional methods only as mechanized extraction with suction pumps leads to environmental degradation and hence will not be permitted, he added.
