August 22, 2024 – Panaji Police have arrested one Sanket Shet from Volvoi-Ponda for causing death of a person by driving car under the influence of alcohol. Accident happened on Old Mandovi Bridge at midnight. Shet had ramped his car into the workers who were engaged in road work and further dashed his vehicle in to the parked Jet Patchier machine vehicle used for filling potholes. Three workers working on the machine – Abhayrai Nirmal, Amit Yadav, Dhiraj Sharma all from Uttar Pradesh were grievously injured. While Amit Yadav, aged 24 years, succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment at GMC Bambolim.
