Sarmanas drowning victim was going to drop tourist at Carambolim

    Digital Goa, Nov 28 – The person who died of drowning after his car skidded in the river at Sarmanas ferry point has been identified as 29-year-old Yatin Mayekar from Dhabdhaba, Bichoilm. Yatin was going to Carambolim Railway station to drop a tourist family there. While at the ferry point, Yatin allegedly had a bout of fit (seizure) following which he lost control of the vehicle. Before the car skidded and plunged into the river, the tourist lady showed presence of mind, opened the car door and jumped out along with her child. Her husband had already alighted from the car before the incident. Mayekar went into the water along with the car. As per eyewitness, the car remained in the water for almost over an hour. Fire & Emergency personnel were called in to carry out rescue operations.
