Jan 8 – Goa State Environment Impact Assessment Authority(SEIAA) in its meeting held on Dec 27,2024 has decided to consider the revised District Survey Report (DSR) for the grant of Environmental Clearance for 12 sand mining zones – 5 zones in Zuari river and 7 in Mandovi river after the DSR is kept in the public domain for a period of 21 days. Incidentally, the DSR has been kept in public domain since Dec 10,2024. In November Goa SEIAA had referred the application for sand mining in Zuari and Mandovi rivers, back to the South Goa District Collector and Directorate of Mines and Geology, for reappraisal and proper determination of Zones of North and South Goa District. Following this the DSR was revised with respect to the queries raised by the Authority and the same was kept in public domain from Dec 10 December 2024.
