Digital Goa, July 20 – The spectacular Selaulim dam began to overflow from its crest through its unique duckbill spillway at 8.12 am today morning. This is the furthest date that the dam has overflown from the crest in past several years. Last year i.e. in 2022 it had overflown on  July 8, in 2021 the spilling over was recorded on July 14 while in 2020, overflow was recorded on July 9. The overflow phenomenon is likely to last until November, depending on the intensity of rainfall in the areas constituting the dam’s catchment. The Selaulim dam’s full reservoir level (FRL) is 41.15m.  The unique ‘duckbill’ spillway is designed to release a maximum flood discharge of 1,450cum per second.
