Digital Goa, Dec 12 – The Cyber Crime Cell of Goa Police has busted an illegal call centre operating out of Bainguinim, Old Goa, and arrested seven persons involved in cheating US citizens by impersonating loan agents of a fictitious company named “Payday.”During a raid conducted in the early hours of December 12, 2025, police seized six laptops and four mobile phones from the spot. The accused — hailing from Gujarat (2), Jharkhand (2), Maharashtra (1) and West Bengal (2) — were caught red-handed while running a scam in which they induced US citizens to pay large amounts through gift cards such as Sephora, Macy’s, Green Dot Money Pack, Apple Gift Cards, Razer Gold and Xbox, under the false promise of loans and instant money.Those arrested include Himanshu Singh Chauhan, Avishek Chowdhury, Basudev Chakraborty, Mohsinhusain Mansuri, Swayam Pandey, Syed Saquib and Vilas Utekar. All accused have been remanded to police custody.
