Aug 27- Seven Marathi medium Govt Primary schools have been shut down due to ‘NIL’ enrolment in the academic year 2024-25 bringing the total number of state-run primary schools to 687. Of the 7 schools which have been granted permission to shut down through a letter dated Aug 13 by the Education Dept, 3 are in Ponda and 4 in Bicholim. As per the data tabled before the Goa assembly during the July 2024 monsoon session, total of 42 govt primary schools are on the verge of closure as they had zero enrolment during the current academic year 2024-25. Moreover, nearly 400 schools are having only five or fewer students enrolled in them to study from Classes I to IV.
