Digital Goa, Mar 1 – A woman from Navelim has been duped to the tune of Rs 12,000 in the fake ONGC job scam. She has filed complaint at Margao police station to this effect. As per the complaint, the woman applied in response to the recruitment advertisement which appeared in the print media in Feb 2024, purportedly from ONGC, an Indian Govt central public sector undertaking. Communicating to her that she was selected for the post, the fraudsters asked her to pay online for forms, workshops, uniform etc. Initially she paid the amount sought, but as the demands increased she became alert. On inquiries with ONGC it was revealed that no such recruitment drive was going on in the company. Following this she filed a police complaint in this regards. Margao Shadow Council Member Savio Coutinho informed that there is likelihood of over 100 youth from Goa being duped by the scamsters through this job scam.
