Digital Goa, Feb 19 – Nearly 76 % manhole construction work in Central Panaji, 96 % in Fontainhas area, 88% in Mala area and 60 % in St Inez area has been completed as on Feb 19. Nearly 35 manhole teams have been deployed to complete the work by the stipulated deadline , informed Smart City officials. In all 74 more manholes are still pending. Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL) briefed the media today as regards progress achieved in its current road and manhole construction works along Central Panaji, Fontainhas, Mala, and St. Inez roads. Encroachments along the roadside pavements in Panaji have posed a significant challenge and have adversely affected the pace of our work, said Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS, IPSCDL Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. If we adhere to our target of completing 20 to 25 manholes per month, we can complete the manholes and sewage line work in Central Panaji by May 31, he said.
